Start your trip with a roundtour with the iconic Sundbåten (the Sundboat harbour ferry) from Piren in front of the Town Hall, the charming little passenger boat with 140 years of experience of scheduled ferry traffic around the harbour. Why not disembark in the old part of town, Innlandet,  for an idea of what Kristiansund was like before the bombing in 1940. Or get off the ferry on to the next island, Nordlandet to view the beautiful art nouveau church (1914) before catching the ferry back again to the town centre.

Further visit to the  Kirkelandet church, a stroll of 15 minutes. This curch is a modern church from 1964 and one of Norway's most unusual and modern church buildings. Close to the church is the 200-year-old listed family burial site of the Brodtkorbs.

Next is the park area Vanndamman and Kringsjå with nice trails to walk short or longer hike. Varden is the small white tower and a lookout tower with a 360 panoramic view. From here you can see the ocean with the islands of Averøy, Grip and Smøla; you can study the whole of Kristiansund in detail, and you can see the fjord cutting into the land towards the Trollheimen and Dovre mountain ranges. Then wander on down towards Vågen with the exciting Patrick Volckmar museum café and its own coffee roasting plant Mellemværftet museum is open in summer and shows veteran boats and wooden craft undergoing repair. The Norwegian klipfish mpuseum has guided torus telling the exciting history of klippfish and of Kristiansund.

This whole trip is about 4 km long.
